On the first day of 2017, the first issue of “Baikar” Weekly was republished.

 

For over a century, "Baikar" has served as a daily and weekly newspaper for the East Coast Armenian communities of the United States, where the intellectual elite of the US Armenian community resided.

 

“Baikar” was designated in the past as the ideological standard bearer of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party and will continue in that role as it resumes its publication.

 

In the past, when the daily served only a regional readership other entities organs in perfect ideological harmony serving other communities.

 

The globalization of the news media and technological development in the electronic media, combined with scarcity of funding sources interrupted the mission of “Baikar” for some time.

 

Today the same developments open the global visions for “Baikar” to resume its former mission, this time serving a global audience, extending from Armenia to all corners of the Armenian Diaspora.

 

This way the re-publication of “Baikar” does not presume to take the role of any other publication, but to restore itself over again, in its century old mission.

“Baikar” is designated as the ideological standard bearer of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party. It has a rich history spanning over 100yrs.
